Residents asked to expand Ludlow's 'poppy waterfall' for Remembrance Day

Residents are being asked to crochet or knit poppies ahead of next month’s commemorations.

Residents in Ludlow are being asked to help grow a poppy waterfall for this year’s Remembrance commemorations.

Following last year’s success of its Community Poppy Waterfall — a vibrant cascade of handcrafted poppies created by residents, schools, uniformed groups and volunteers — Ludlow Town Council said it wants local people to help expand the tribute for this year.

The original waterfall, described as “a striking Community Poppy Waterfall”, will return on November 2, displayed once again at The Georgian House, behind the Peace Memorial in the town.

This year, residents are invited to contribute crocheted or knitted poppies measuring at least five inches, which will be added to the railings outside The Georgian House to complement the main waterfall installation.

These additional poppies will create a fuller, more immersive tribute, reflecting the town’s ongoing commitment to remembrance, the town council said.

Completed poppies can be dropped off at The Guildhall by Thursday, October 29.

Ludlow Town Council added that it looked forward to building on this shared act of remembrance and welcoming contributions from across the community.
