Pro-Palestine activist denies criminal damage in protest at Telford electronics firm

A trial date has been set for next year

A pro-Palestine activist has denied a charge of criminal damage following a protest at an electronics manufacturer in Telford.

Freya Wilson, 27 and of Yeoman Street in London, pleaded not guilty to criminal damage when she appeared before Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday (October 20).

The court heard that Wilson was arrested following an incident at Keysight Technologies in Halesfield on September 8 this year.

Wilson disputed the extent of the damage attributed to her and said her actions amounted to lawful protest.

District Judge Graham Wilkinson said the prosecution accepted that Wilson genuinely believed the company was “complicit in the deaths of civilians in Palestine” and would be entitled to explain those beliefs in court to advance her defence.

A trial date has been set for March 4.
