Powys fire crews battling another 'significant' wildfire at Glascwm
Powys fire crews are battling another “significant” wildfire in the Glascwm area near Hundred House.
Crews from five different Powys fire stations are currently on site including Builth Wells, Rhayader, Llandrindod Wells, Hay-on-Wye and Brecon.
The incident currently has an estimated fire front of approximately 600 metres, with a significant amount of smoke being generated.
The crews are dealing with the wildfire involving gorse and grass and they are working to contain and bring the fire under control.
Smoke is visible from a number of miles away and, due to the current wind conditions, the smell of smoke has been reported as far away as Builth Wells.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We would like to reassure residents that fire crews are in attendance and actively dealing with the incident.
“ If you are in or travelling through the Glascwm area, please avoid the immediate area where possible to allow emergency vehicles and crews to operate safely, keep windows and doors closed if you are affected by smoke, take extra care on surrounding roads where smoke may reduce visibility, do not attempt to approach the incident to take photographs or videos and continue to call 999 if you see a separate fire or believe life or property is at immediate risk.”
