Powys man admitted crash which left two bikers with ‘substantial injuries’

A Powys motorist has admitted causing a road traffic collision in which two motorcyclists suffered “substantial” injuries.

Daniel Bowen pleaded guilty to two charges of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving when he appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The court heard that on June 29 2025 at Felinfach, 32 year-old Bowen caused serious injury to Steven Powell and Helen Powell by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely a Black Vauxhall Corsa (CA66 KXZ), on a road namely A470, without due care and attention.

Prosecuting, Ms Sian Vaughan said there was an impact at a junction and Bowen had given two slightly different accounts in that he said he was further away and then that he didn’t see the Powells.

Both of them suffered substantial injuries.

Mitigating, Mr Russell Hall said a full pre-sentence report was appropriate.

Magistrates accepted jurisdiction of the case but reserved the right to commit the case to crown court for sentence.

The matter was adjourned to Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court for a hearing on April 15. An interim disqualification was put in place.
