Shropshire defence jobs would be at risk under Labour, says Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard
Defence jobs in Shropshire could be at risk under a Labour Government, Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard claimed today.
Mr Pritchard, who is vice chairman of the Conservative Defence Committee, made the comments after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's refusal to commit to renewing the UK's Trident nuclear deterrent.
The MP said: "A government led by Jeremy Corbyn would be a real and present danger to our national defence and therefore to local defence jobs."
He claimed the defence sector would expand under the Tories, helping Shropshire's economy.
The comments came after Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson attacked Jeremy Corbyn as a threat to national security in light of threats from Isis and North Korea - and labelled him a "mugwump"
