'No no no!' Villagers fear plans for 114 homes will mean a 'tarmac jungle' on their doorsteps
Villagers have hit out at plans for 114 new homes, fearing the "quiet and peaceful" area will become a "tarmac jungle" with strained

Redrow Homes has submitted the proposal for the homes off the west side of Lyth Hill Road in Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury.
The developer says the complex would comprise 17 five-bed homes, 22 four-beds, 34 three-beds, 33 two-beds and eight one-beds.
It is the third time plans have been lodged for homes on the site - and this latest incarnation has not gone down well with residents.
Several objections have been submitted to the planning application, including one from Mrs Louise Hotchkiss.
She said: "The added 150+ cars a day driving down this road to work, school run, shopping etc would be completely detrimental to the area.
"The road is already very busy with the country park at the top and then several businesses in the area. I worry about my ten-year-old wanting to go out and about and him being run over trying to cross the road. I suggest someone from the council comes to assess this.
"Add to this the school being oversubscribed. People moving to the area are struggling to get their children into our school. The doctors are overwhelmed, no regular bus service and you cannot get a dentist in the village at all any more, we go elsewhere in the town.
"And don't get me started on the environmental impact - fields flooding and water already running into residents' garages off the field in all the heavy rain we've had of late. What happens when it's a tarmac jungle?"
Mrs Margaret Dodd added: "An almost identically bad plan was put forward in late 2022 before being withdrawn, attracting over 80 complaints from village residents. There is nothing in this new plan which addresses satisfactorily any of the concerns previously raised."
Her main worries are around drainage, flood risk and traffic.
Mrs R Hudson, another local resident, said: "Lyth Hill Road is already hazardous. Drivers driving too fast, poor quality of road.
"I am unable to access services easily to doctors, dentists etc. Demand and pressure on services is already great.
"Our home and garage is regularly flooded by overwhelmed drains unable to cope with the current infrastructure. There is obvious flooding risk already.
"Local wildlife is already being swamped with local housing developments. Why oh why try and build on a country park? We are losing habitat for nature at speed. Shameful. We moved here for the nature, the scenery, the walks.
"Residents have the right to a peaceful existence not for commercial gain.
"No no no."
Redrow Homes says the development would bring construction jobs and economic benefit to the area, with more "economically active" residents in Shrewsbury, and that the "green space provision" in the area would exceed policy requirements of 27.5 per cent.
The consultation is open until April 18 this year.
