Carolyn Healy

Being part of our community and helping to make it the best possible place to live and work is what motivates me. I am a community member who wants to make a difference and my track record is proof of that.

  • I have brought investment into the Gorge to better promote the town and purchase new Christmas lights and organise the switch-on event when there was a chance it would be scrapped.

  • I have championed our open spaces – stopping the reduction in annual bedding at Dale End Park and working on a range of environmental improvements such as the planting scheme on Ironbridge High Street.

  • I worked with the Council to improve road safety around our primary school; have new baby-changing facilities installed in the public toilets; and secured various pavement resurfacing schemes.

  • I am an active committee member of several local community groups.

If elected I pledge to:

  • Work to address the traffic and parking issues.

  • Be a strong voice to represent your views and minimise the negative impacts of housing development and protect our green corridors.

  • Ensure unregistered public footpaths are designated as Public Rights of Way and secure investment to conserve our war memorials, including the Jackfield and Coalport memorial bridge.

  • Support community volunteers to improve our local parks and open spaces.

It’s been a privilege to serve and support our community as your borough councillor for the Ironbridge Gorge.

On May 2, 2019, I shall be standing for re-election as your borough councillor. I would be honoured if you would put your trust in me by voting to re-elect me in the forthcoming elections, so that we can continue our positive work together as a community.

I live locally in Ironbridge, have a background within architecture and am passionate about preserving our heritage, enhancing the place we call home and providing a strong and effective voice for our community.

Together, we’re making important progress in the Ironbridge Gorge and if re-elected I will:

  • Continue to meet residents on a weekly basis for one to one advice surgeries, to ensure we prioritise the issues that matter to you.

  • Continue our work towards securing a positive future use for the former Ironbridge Power Station and the reintroduction of heritage rail into the site.

  • Proceed to work with the council and our community and to develop an Access Strategy for the Gorge to ensure we improve road and pedestrian safety.

  • Continue to ensure residents are kept up to date with key information.
