Points failure causes rail disruption between Wolverhampton and Stafford

Rail replacement services are in operation

Rail passengers travelling between Wolverhampton and Stafford are facing disruption this morning after a points failure near Penkridge blocked lines on the route.

On Wednesday, May 20, London Northwestern Railway confirmed that services between Wolverhampton and Stafford are currently unable to run normally while engineers work to resolve the issue.

Rail replacement buses have been arranged to operate between Wolverhampton, Penkridge and Stafford to help passengers complete their journeys.

The operator has also introduced ticket acceptance with other train companies while disruption continues. Passengers can use London Northwestern Railway tickets on Avanti West Coast services between Crewe and Liverpool, and on CrossCountry services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street.

No estimate has yet been given for when normal services will resume.

Passengers are being advised to check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.
