Plans for eight new apartments in Wellington withdrawn

Outline planning permission was granted in December 2023

A developer has withdrawn plans to build eight apartments in Wellington - although a smaller-scale scheme may still come forward.

Outline planning permission was granted in December 2023 for the proposal at land adjacent to Glebe House in Glebe Street.

Two months ago, Ed Wall submitted an application for all reserved matters. On behalf of her client, Jo Jones of JJA Planning said all the apartments would be one-bed.

She added that the scheme "forms the final, completing element of the Glebe Street redevelopment, delivering critical urban infill between the Glebe House and Lovell’s development to create a continuous, cohesive frontage and delivering essential services".

The application has now been withdrawn. However, Ms Jones said the parking arrangements are currently being reviewed and the developer hopes to be in a position to submit a revised, smaller-scale proposal consisting of six units.

"Given the highways officer's positive response to the access arrangement (which only requires clarification on the boundary fencing), we did consider seeking approval for the 'access' reserved matter alone," said Ms Jones.

"However, my client is willing to withdraw all reserved matters, provided the waste response can still be issued to us.

"We are endeavouring to design a scheme that addresses all the local planning authority's standards and wider recommendations."
