Last week Post Office officials revealed that Greenfields Post Office, in Shrewsbury, had been completely saved, although a further 13 branches in the county are to close and 13 others replaced by outreach services.
Greenfields was announced on a hit-list of under threat branches across the county after the Post Office announced that nationally 2,500 post offices had been earmarked for closure as part of a cost-saving programme.
Today Mohamed Shaheen, whose wife Rubbina is subpostmaster at Greenfields, said he was hoping to get permission from Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council to close Wood Street for a party to celebrate the branch remaining opening.
