A secret recording in which a patient allegedly told her married doctor from Oswestry that he has 'such a kissable mouth' has been played to a disciplinary panel.

The patient told the hearing she rigged up her mobile phone and hid it in her handbag so she could make an audio recording of the alleged sex sessions with Dr Simon Robinson during a consultation.

Dr Robinson, 44, denies misconduct over the alleged incidents. The hearing has heard he has agreed overstepping the mark with her but denies a sexual relationship took place.

Yesterday Dr Robinson, who is based at the Cae Glas Surgery, listened as the two hour-long clips, which featured the sounds of kissing and heaving breathing, were played to a disciplinary panel at the General Medical Council in Manchester. His wife Catherine was not at the hearing.

The panel was told the recordings formed evidence that the patient, known only as Patient A, provided to the GMC to prove their 16-month affair.

The hearing has already been told their encounters always stopped short of full sexual intercourse.

In one of the clips from the recordings the patient was heard to say 'you have such a kissable mouth' followed by some inaudible sounds after which she said 'I really think you should run off with me'.

She compiled a diary during the alleged romance and also submitted a photograph she had taken of Dr Robinson at his desk in his surgery, the hearing was told.

Patient A also produced cards she claims Dr Robinson sent her for Valentine's Day and Christmas. The hearing was told, one card for when she was moving house read: "Behave yourself and you'll always be my number one patient."

Giving evidence from behind a screen Patient A said she had first registered with Dr Robinson's surgery in 1999 and by 2009 she regarded herself as a friend of the GP.

She told the hearing their romance began when the doctor kissed her on the mouth. The woman told the panel she felt on 'cloud nine' and after morning surgery on another occasion they kissed again.

Patient A told the panel: "I was very flattered but I was also a bit confused as to why that was happening. He called me at home and he sat down on the sofa and he started to kiss me again. He made it quite clear he wanted more than just a kiss."

She told the hearing she and the doctor saw each other two to three times a week mostly at her home but also at his surgery.

The hearing was told he allegedly asked her to call for a doctor when he was providing out-of-hours cover so he could go round to her house. And it also heard he allegedly asked for the patient to send photographs of herself wearing lingerie.

Under cross examination Patient A denied claims by Dr Robinson's lawyer Mr Andrew Hockton, that she 'fantasised' about having a relationship with the GP.

The hearing continues.
