Oswestry affair claim patient sold previous story

A patient who claims she had an affair with a GP from Oswestry sold a story about a previous relationship to a tabloid magazine, a tribunal has heard.
Dr Simon Robinson, 44, has refuted allegations he had a 16-month affair with the woman. Yesterday he told the General Medical Council he feared a similar article would follow his tribunal.
Dr Robinson – a doctor at the Cae Glas Surgery when the relationship is alleged to have taken place in 2009 and 2010 – said he had been told the woman had sold a previous story for a 'significant sum of money'.
The GP, who denies misconduct, told the Manchester hearing: "It's a fact that was well known and the article was brought in for the reception staff to see. I imagine at the end of these proceedings there will be a similar article."
The woman, named only as patient A, secretly made two tape recordings of them meeting which she alleges features the pair engaging in sex acts at the Oswestry surgery and at her home.
Yesterday Dr Robinson said he bore the woman no malice and said: "I have no idea why she has done this to me."He added: "If I was having sex with a patient in my surgery believe you me somebody would find out."
"In hindsight, having done a 'boundaries' course, I now realise my mistakes having a cup of tea with a patient and calling unannounced can give the wrong impression to some people.
"My relationship with that patient was always professional and friendly but I can understand how it could have given the wrong impression to someone.
''In no way shape or form did I have sexual relations with that woman. I did everything I did with the best of intentions as a holistic kind of doctor who tries. And I go sometimes too far to try and help people and that's my failing.''
He said in late 2010 the woman became more presentable in her appearance and her language became a little bit more flirtatious.
But when he refused to give her £200 she became sharp with him and six weeks later he received the notification from the GMC she had made a complaint, he said.
The hearing continues.
