Plans revealed for 155 new homes in north Shropshire village
A developer has promised a “landscape-led approach”
More than 150 houses are planned for a north Shropshire village.
Boningale Developments has submitted an outline planning application for up to 155 properties on a 7.55-hectare parcel of land off Perryfield Road in Prescott, south of Baschurch.
The proposal also includes a new GP surgery, including a dispensary; an EV car club scheme, landscaping, public open space, drainage, and other related infrastructure.

In a design and access statement, a spokesperson for Marrons said the proposals follow “a landscape-led approach that will foster a distinctive and biodiverse place for wildlife and people to enjoy".
"Alongside generous public open space and play opportunities, the scheme will emphasise active travel and sustainable design, shaping an attractive and healthy place that feels well integrated with the existing community of Baschurch," said the spokesperson.

The site access road is set to be the “major arm”, with the existing cul-de-sac to the north becoming the “minor arm”. A ‘give way’ priority junction and centre-line road markings would be provided along Perryfield Road.
The spokesperson said extensive early engagement took place with Shropshire Council, local stakeholders and residents, including an in-person public consultation event in December.
The feedback ”has contributed to the incorporation of appropriate infrastructure improvements and the development of a proposal capable of delivering meaningful benefits for both existing and future communities,” the spokesperson said.

However, people who live in Yeaton, the next village along Perryfield Road, are already worried about the volume of traffic that uses the lane from the Prescott roundabout, with a recent survey showing that around 6,000 vehicles go through the village on an average week.
"Past attempts by residents to raise these issues with relevant council departments have been unsuccessful," read a statement on behalf of the residents.
"At a Baschurch Parish Council meeting on March 2, concern was expressed that in spite of its close proximity to the site, Yeaton was not included in the traffic count conducted by Marrons on behalf of Boningale Developments as part of their feasibility study.
"Whilst a development of the size proposed on the Perryfield site would increase traffic through Yeaton to intolerable levels, the extensive expansion of housing in Baschurch has over recent years led to an exponential rise in traffic using the road from Prescott roundabout to drive through Yeaton to the A5 and beyond."
