No trains from Shrewsbury to Birmingham for two days due to broken AC on ageing trains
Temperatures are set to rise at the weekend.
Rising temperatures at the weekend will mean that the majority of trains between Shrewsbury and Birmingham will be cancelled on Sunday and Monday.
Transport for Wales (TfW) said the majority of its services running between the two stations will be cancelled due to expected high temperatures, although the final three services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham on Sunday will run as planned.
Rail bosses have blamed a lack of air conditioning on their ageing fleet for the cancellations and has apologised to passengers.
In a statement TfW said: “We’re unable to run our older trains during periods of high temperatures due to ongoing failures with the air conditioning systems of our legacy fleet.
“We are working with our supply chain to resolve this as soon as possible before our older trains are replaced as part of our £800 million investment in brand new trains.
“Rail replacement bus services will be in place from Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton calling at Telford and Wellington.”
The rail firm said ticket acceptance is in place with CrossCountry from Wolverhampton to Birmingham, Avanti West Coast will allow "TfW only" ticket holders travelling between Wales and the West Midlands to use their tickets on Avanti services between Crewe and Stafford on Sunday and Monday, and ticket acceptance is in place with West Midlands Trains between Shrewsbury and Birmingham for customers who have already purchased Advanced Tickets for travel on Sunday and Monday.
