New fragrance store to open in former Albrighton Barclays bank building 16 years after closure
The building had stood empty for more than a decade when it was bought at auction
A new store in Albrighton is to bring a former bank back to life after 16 years.
16 years after Barclays closed its doors in Albrighton town centre, the building will welcome back customers later this month when it reopens as a fragrance store.
The Scent Room by Shropshire Design is due to open on Station Road at 9am on Saturday, October 31.
The dilapidated building was bought at auction in 2022 by Shropshire Design founders Peter Snowdon and Wesley Fellows.

At the time, the bank had stood empty for more than a decade, with a previous plan in 2011 to turn the building into flats failing to come to fruition.
The wider building has since become the home of their furniture and interiors business, but the new fragrance store will bring its frontage back into public use.
Peter said: “When we took on the old bank, we could see the potential in a building that had stood unused for so long.
“Opening the doors of the storefront again is a particularly special moment.
“We hope it gives people another reason to come into Albrighton, explore the village and support its independent businesses.”
