Telford’s MP has attended a remembrance event to recognise Baby Loss Awareness Week at the town’s first baby memorial.

Earlier this year, Shaun and Katie, founders of The Pickering Foundation created Telford’s first baby memorial, Little Footsteps in the Sky, providing a dedicated place of comfort for families who have been affected by baby loss.

Last week, Shaun Davies, Member of Parliament for Telford, joined the Pickering Foundation, Ada’s Foundation and Love with George at a special remembrance event at Jubilee Gardens to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week.

The MP said: “I am incredibly honoured to have joined Stuart, Martha, Ben, Shaun and Katie this evening to recognise what is such an incredibly important week.

“These organisations do remarkable work for our community. Having experienced such difficult loss themselves, they have each turned their personal experiences into a source of comfort and support for others.

“I am so proud to have supported them on a part of their journey, and I hope that Little Footsteps in the Sky continues to provide a place of comfort and peace for families across Telford who are going through what is an incredibly difficult time.”

Shaun Pickering said: “It was an incredible evening, and to see so many families come together, to honour our little angels is heart-warming, and shows us that we have achieved our goals to provide a place of remembrance for those families who have sadly suffered from pregnancy or baby loss.

“We’re incredibly proud to have been awarded a Telford Champions Award 2026! And we’re honoured to receive this recognition from Shaun, celebrating the work of The Pickering Foundation and our mission to create Telford’s first baby memorial, Little Footprints in the Sky.

“This award means so much to us and recognises the heart, dedication and hard work that has gone into creating something truly special for families in our community.”

Stuart Cain from Ada’s Foundation said: “It’s such a lovely gesture and recognition and it is a real honour to receive the award on behalf of the charity and its supporters and fundraisers.”

Ben and Martha Gumsley, Founders of Love from George added “We are incredibly proud to receive this Community Champion Award in recognition of the work of Love from George.

“We founded the charity in memory of our beautiful son, George, with the aim of ensuring no family facing baby loss feels alone.

“We are so grateful to our trustees, volunteers and supporters who help us provide meaningful support to bereaved families through our wellbeing boxes and community activities.

“This recognition means so much to us, and we remain committed to continuing George’s legacy.”

The MP recently worked alongside local councillors Ben Carter and Elise Davies to help secure the foundation with community funding to support them in continuing their incredible work within the community. This funding was also extended by Great Dawley Town Councill, helping the couple complete all work needed to create the space they envisioned.
