Interest growing in Santa Run

International TV companies have been taking an interest in a Mid Wales Santa Run.

A Russian station and a French television company have been making inquiries with Newtown and District Dial-A-Ride, organisers of Newtown's Santa Run.

Peter Thompson, Santa Run spokesman, said today: "I've had phone calls from a Russian station and from Television France Two as well as the BBC and ITV, which both said they'll be here.

"So far we have got about 500 entries from all over the country as well as, of course, from Mid Wales. We are expecting to probably double that number by next weekend,"

Mr Thompson said people who had looked up the event on the internet appeared to be particularly keen in taking part in the Newtown event because it was the original one. The event takes place on December 9.
