Major expansion planned for north Shropshire engineering firm
The expansion would allow the firm to almost double the number of staff members
A civil engineering firm in north Shropshire has lodged new plans to expand its operations.
Whitchurch-based McFour Ltd has asked Shropshire Council for permission to extend its existing yard off the A49 and create new buildings, including an MOT workshop and a training centre, as well as additional parking and a larger internal road system.

Documents stated the expansion scheme is necessary to avoid the need for the “growing” Prees Heath firm to relocate - possibly out of the area.
According to the plans, McFour currently employs the equivalent of 17.5 full‑time staff but expects this to rise to around 30 if the expansion is approved.
It’s the second time the firm has applied for the expansion, but the previous application was withdrawn last year after planning officers advised that more information was required to support approval.
The full proposal, which is open for consultation until Friday, June 19, is available to view online on Shropshire Council’s planning portal using reference number 26/01051/FUL.
