Police confirm Telford M54 incident 'resolved safely' after motorway closed both ways in early hours
The road reopened before 3am
The M54 was shut to traffic both ways early this morning as police brought a person to safety.
The motorway was closed in both directions from around 1.40am to 2.45am on Thursday (July 9) between Junctions 5, for Telford town centre, and 6, near Lawley and the Wrekin Retail Park.
West Mercia Police said its officers attended due to concerns for a person’s safety but that the incident was resolved safely.
At 2.13am National Highways West Midlands had said: “The M54 has closed in both directions between J5 and J6 near Telford following a police-led incident.”
The roads authority posted an update shortly before 3am to say the road had reopened in both directions.
“All lanes now open, traffic moving freely,” a spokesperson said.
“Please have a safe onwards journey.”
