Ludlow to hold new youth festival

Town council says it is the first event of its kind in the south Shropshire town

A new free festival for young people is coming to south Shropshire.

Ludlow Town Council is running its first ever youth festival which will feature a broad range of activities and entertainment, with organisers hoping it can become an annual event.

Among those already confirmed to appear are Sunshine Radio with a live sound stage and PA, immersive gaming experiences with Gamechanger, cycling with Dirt Factory Events Team, Insteps Dance Academy and staff from local emergency services.

Local food vendors will also be in attendance including Noba Kitchen, M & M Ices and the Pizza Girls.

The launch of the youth festival follows an extensive consultation with young people, families, schools and community groups earlier this year.

The council said it had received a strong response with clear messages about what young people in Ludlow wanted.

These included more active outdoor opportunities, creative spaces, more music and performance and chances to connect with local services in a positive, informal way.

Ludlow Town Council said this feedback had directly shaped the programme for the upcoming youth festival.

Colin Oliver is managing director of live music promoter Futuresound which is sponsoring the event.

He said: "As a local lad, I'm really pleased we're able to support the youth festival and help give the young people of Ludlow a fun day out.

"It's great to see an event like this being created for the community and we're proud to be part of a free day that everyone can enjoy."

The festival runs from 11am to 4pm on July 30 at Wheeler Road Recreation Area, in Ludlow.
