Even a prime minister has to take a comfort break and Theresa May broke her long drive at none other than the M54 services.

Visitors to the Welcome Break service station did a double take when Mrs May strode through the services, past the shops and cafes to use the loo.

The ladies was declared out-of-bounds to the public while the Prime Minister 'freshened up' on Saturday and after a couple of minutes she walked out to her waiting Jaguar.

One Telford man who captured a video of Mrs May leaving the service station was 23-year old Jake Garbett.

Watch Jake Garbett's video:

The delivery driver from Aqueduct had been on a shopping expedition to the town centre with his girlfriend and grandad, who lives in Shifnal.

"We popped into the services quickly for a drink and my girlfriend had gone back to the car to check on our dog," he said.

"I saw this woman and thought 'is that the Prime Minister?'.

"Then I noticed about four blokes with her and one was talking into his collar. That was a giveaway that it was Theresa May."

Jake rushed back to his car, grabbed his phone and returned just in time to take a quick video of her leaving.

Mrs May could have been returning to the mountains of Snowdonia for an Easter walking break.

It was while she was walking in the Dolgellau area in April two years - a pre-Easter break - that she made the decision to call a snap election in June 2017.

Jake, a mountain bike fan, who trained in outdoor pursuits, said if she was in need of a break for Westminster and some thinking time the mountains of Wales were the perfect choice.

"I love mountain biking in Wales, there is so much freedom and it is certainly the place to get away from life," he said.
