Man, 20, killed in Newport crash

A 20-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Newport.

The collision happened at the junction of Forton Road and Sunny Gardens at 4.10am on Sunday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a man who had suffered very serious injuries.

“He was treated at the scene before being taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital; the doctor travelled with the crew. Sadly, the man passed away at hospital.

“The driver of a car at the scene was unhurt.”

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the MERIT Trauma Doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.
