Caravan full of rubbish dumped near Newport

An old caravan full of rubbish was dumped on a lane.

The caravan, which was full of garden rubbish, paving slabs and old tyres, was abandoned on a lane in Cherrington near Newport.

It had to be removed by Telford & Wrekin Council staff on Saturday.

Police will now go through the contents of the caravan to try and identify the person responsible.

Despite its large size, the mess is still being treated as fly-tipping.

Constable Lee Thomas said: "Police and Council Officials in Telford are asking for information after an old caravan was dumped on a lane.

"The caravan was found by Telford & Wrekin Council staff to be full of rubbish including garden rubbish, paving slabs and old tyres.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact the Environmental Health Department at Telford & Wrekin Council on 01952 384384 or the police at Newport on 101."
