Man left seriously injured after Telford stabbing

A man has been arrested after a stabbing in Telford on New Year's Day.

The 50-year-old from Telford was arrested on suspicion of wounding after the victim, a 51-year-old man also from the area, was taken to hospital with a serious injury to his hand.

A number of police cars were in the area of Barclay Court, Trench, in Telford from around 3pm on Monday.

Nearby Wellington Road, which connects Trench with Donnington, was fully shut while police were in the area. Neither pedestrians nor motorists were allowed through.

Inspector Julian Smith said: “There was a large police presence in the area while we dealt with this incident and I’d like to thank local people in the area for their patience and support.

"Officers were promptly on the scene to contain the incident and ensure no other members of the public were put at risk.”

All roads in the area are now open following the incident.

Police are now looking for anybody with information to come forward.
