Wesley McEvilly, 25, and Kelsey McEvilly, 24, of Botany Bay Close, Aqueduct, began defrauding their vulnerable victim in November 2020, Stafford Crown Court heard on Wednesday.

The pair had already admitted one charge of blackmail and another of fraud by false representation at an earlier court hearing in July this year.

Prosecuting the couple, Mr Jonathan Dickenson, told the court told how the couple's victim was a young vulnerable adult from Northumbria.

He said: "The victim is a young man with learning disabilities who attempted to contact an escort via an advertisement on a website.

"The defendants answered and claimed to be an escort and using Kelsey's mobile phone contacted the victim and asked him to pay them £245 for a home visit."
