A new trampoline park could be opened in Telford, creating 30 jobs.

Airea 51Trampoline Parks is hoping to bring the new attraction to the Former Northwood Paper Sales unit in Stafford Park 12.

There would be 35 trampolines, basketball and dodgeball courts and an air bag ‘jump zone’.

The park would also include a viewing gallery and a cafe food and drink provision for visitors, if proposals are accepted.

Trampoline parks have opened up across the country, attracting thousands of visitors.

One of the nearest to Shropshire currently is Air Space Wolverhampton, based at Bentley Bridge Retail Park, which opened at the start of last year. The £1.5 million park, set over two floors, boastshas over 100 interconnected trampolines.

Steve Jones, an agent for the application for the Telford park said it would provide a new leisure destination for the county.

Mr Jones, of DS Jones, said: “The development will provide a valuable local sporting and social facility which will be of significant benefit to young people both locally and from a wider catchment area and will create valuable levels of employment within a building which has been vacant for some considerable time.

“The proposal will involve the creation of a trampolining area which will involve the construction of approximately 35 trampoline beds. There will also be basketball and dodgeball with various rest areas spread around the park.

“In addition, a number of party rooms will be provided within former offices at ground and first floor levels together with a customer cafeteria and kitchen counter within the large open area at first floor level.

“A new mezzanine level will be constructed beyond the customer cafeteria in order to provide a viewing gallery with good visibility for parents or companions of the persons using the trampoline park.”

Developers expect to employ 10 full-time members of staff within the park and 20 part-time employees if it is opened.

The plans also include the building of 40 new car parking spaces, bringing up the total to 60, and room for 40 cycle spaces. The park would be open from 10am until 10pm every day of the week.

The plans were submitted to Telford & Wrekin Council this week and should be decided in the coming months.
