Minsterley tragedy: Inquest opens on toddler Stelios

An inquest was today opened into the death of toddler Stelios Karsas who died before Christmas in Minsterley.

Nineteen-month-old Stelios was run over by a car outside Minsterley Garage in Station Road on December 21, the inquest heard.

Emergency services were called to the garage forecourt at 10.50am and Stelios was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed Stelios, from Minsterley, near Shrewsbury was hit by a Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4, driver by his father.

John Ellery, coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, adjourned the inquest until March 27.

West Mercia Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information should call 101, quoting the incident number 245s of December 21.
