Perfect New Year's Day delivery as Shrewsbury couple welcome a baby boy
A Shrewsbury couple have celebrated the new year in the perfect way - with the arrival of their first child.
Molly and Chris Fazey, from Shrewsbury, welcomed their son Luca, who was born at the Women and Children's Unit at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
Luca was born at 8.24am today (January 1), weighing seven pounds and 10 ounces.
Molly said they had kept their baby's gender a surprise and had names ready for both eventualities.
Luca was a couple of days late in the end, but could even have been a Christmas baby if everything had gone to the original schedule.
Molly said: "It was originally going to be Christmas Day but when I had my dating scan it went forward five days."
She was full of praise for the staff at the unit, after being induced having been at the hospital for two days before Luca's arrival.
"I have been here a few days now. I couldn't fault everyone here, they have all been absolutely incredible - to be honest the whole experience has been amazing."
