Firefighters called to unattended bonfire in Shropshire village

Firefighters were called to tackle an "unattended" bonfire in a village near Oswestry overnight.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended Oakfield Close at St Martins at around 1.03am today (Friday, January 16).

One fire crew from Ellesmere was sent to the scene.

They encountered a large unattended bonfire and used a hose reel jet and drag rakes to put it out.

It was under control by 1.53am.
