Woman and girl rescued from car trapped in flood water

Firefighters rescued a woman and a young girl from a car which had become trapped in flood water.

The incident, just off the A483 near Pool Quay, Welshpool, happened at about 6.20pm yesterday when the car was caught in flood waters.

A spokeswoman for the station said: "On arrival, the firefighters found a woman and a young girl in a car which had left the road, firefighters used a rescue sled and wading poles to rescue the two and escort them to safety before towing the car out of flood water.

"The crews were sent from Welshpool and Aberystwyth."

Firefighters used the rescue sled to rescue the pair along with wading poles.
