Pedestrian killed in A494 accident

A man has died after being knocked down on an A road in the early hours of the morning.

The man in his 40s was hit by a vehicle while walking down the A494 from Ruthin towards Llanbedr-Dyffryn-Clwyd in North Wales this morning.

Sgt Jason Diamond of the North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit said: “He is local to the area and our sympathies go out to his family, who are being supported by Police Family Liaison Officers.”

“The investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this collision and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling along the A494 and who saw the man walking between 1am and 1.40am this morning.”

The road was closed and reopened at about 3.15pm on Sunday.
