How Llandrindod Wells plans to spend its £83,000 of Pride in Place funding

Llandrindod Wells Town Council is planning 10 projects with its share of £1.5 million of Pride of Place funding.

All 18 of Powys’ towns are to benefit from an equal share of the investment aimed at improving local spaces, revitalising high streets and strengthening communities.

Powys County Council has received the funding through the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund, which supports short-term projects to improve public and community spaces.

As part of the agreed approach, each town council will receive £83,000 to deliver locally-led improvements.

Llandrindod Wells Town Council is planning to undertake 10 projects with their money, all to benefit the town and its residents.

The projects include jet washing and painting town centre heritage lamp posts, providing seven new recycled public litter bins, designing and producing a new town map to include defibrillator locations and a town centre display board, refurbishment of the band stand in Temple Gardens and providing five replacement poster display boards.

There will also be four new tower planters, the refurbishment of the lake park public benches, the purchase of 20 gazebos for markets, a small storage container for the gazebos and the laying of a new gravel grid system on parts of Temple Gardens to enable year round use for events, craft markets and initiatives.

Town clerk Jane Johnston said: “This is great news for Llandrindod Wells. Another grant obtained by the town council for the benefit of the town and its residents.

“As part of this funding the Town Council will be giving areas of the town a refresh and introducing some new elements

“All removals, ground works and installations will also be funded from this grant and there will be no administration or back office costs.

“The Town Council is committed to managing this project via the Town Clerk and bringing all elements into place before the project completion date of February 28 2027 and using local contractors wherever possible.

“Thank you to the Pride in Place Fund for supporting a brighter future for Llandrindod Wells.”

The allocation, which must be spent by the end of March 2027, is entirely capital funding and will support projects that deliver visible, lasting improvements.

In addition Llandrindod Wells Town Council will be hosting a residents’ feedback event on Saturday, June 13 from 10am until 12 noon at Temple Chambers on South Crescent, Llandrindod Wells.

It will be a chance for residents to share their views, ideas and suggestions for improving the town and to raise any issues or problems which fall within the town council’s remit and to discuss possible solutions.

Go along and speak to the chairman Councillor Steve Deeks-D’Silva, vice chairman Councillor Kim Nicholls and town clerk Jane Johnston. All residents are welcome and no appointments are necessary, just call in.
