Inside the Claverley 'Poundland Mansion' that is still available to buy two years on

The extensive estate is perfect for those with ‘very’ deep pockets

It’s now been more than two years since Ludstone Hall, better known as the ‘Poundland Mansion’, was re-listed for sale, and we aren’t sure why it hasn’t been snatched up.

To be fair, with a price tag of just shy of £4 million, we can take a guess at why it hasn’t sold yet; however, it’s a majestic property and one that deserves a new owner in our opinion.

Located in Claverley, between Bridgnorth and Wolverhampton, the property was initially listed for sale on June 10, 2024, for around £7,775,000, and since then it has undergone a number of price drops in the hopes of finding it a new owner.

The historic hall was dubbed the ‘Poundland Mansion’ due to its purchase and renovation by Poundland co-founder Steven Smith.

Keith was regularly known to open his doors for visitors to take a look around the ‘Poundland Museum’ and the grounds to raise money for his local church and history group.

The expansive property features around 8,000 sq ft of interior, including four reception rooms, nine bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a full range kitchen and its own orchard.

However, outside is where the property really shines, with a kept ground spanning more than 177.19 acres; it’s more than enough room for any pooch to run around in.

The manor itself dates back to medieval times, featuring in the Domesday Book in 1085, with the current Ludstone Hall being built in 1607 by the Whitmore family.

It’s a house that is full of history, both inside and out, and surprisingly has only had a handful of owners since it was first built.

The house is currently on sale by property consultants Fisher German and is listed on the Zoopla website.
