Town traders pitched in to a fun treasure hunt for families to raise money and awareness for a very ill young boy.

Bridgnorth hosted two treasure hunts in the town, one with picture clues for smaller children and a more complex route for older children.

It was arranged by Beckie Nathan of The Small Club in support of Gunner Lewis-Vale, a one-year-old boy who lives with a complex blood sugar condition that means his body cannot break down natural sugars and affect his development.

Beckie said: "We are raising awareness and money for a local boy, Gunner Lewis-Vale, who has a rare form of MPS. He desperately needs to find a bone marrow donor before his second birthday. The family are customers of ours and we wanted to do whatever we could to help.

"I'm a parent, and if you can help you help.

"The retailers have been brilliant, I think 38 of them offered to help out.

"There were lots of people saying they had seen people out doing the treasure hunt.

"I think in Bridgnorth if people know it's something local they get behind it."

Each child got a chocolate prize.

The treasure hunts raised more than £200 for blood cancer charities Anthony Nolan and DKMS, but the vital thing is for Gunner to find a bone marrow match before his birthday in October to give the treatment the best chance of success.

Gunner's mother Holly Lewis-Vale said: "With a donor Gunner has a chance of a full life with his shortened life expectancy. Let’s give him the best chance and help us keep our little boy for as long as possible."
