Throwback to when Blists Hill was the star of TV show Gladiators
With the Gladiators grand final coming to our screens on Saturday, March 30, here's a look back to the day Blists Hill was a contender.
Our picture shows Gladiators Delta, Lightning, and Hunter during filming at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum site in August 1996. If we knew why they're posting a letter, we'd tell you. We know that Wolf was there as well.
The programme came to Blists Hill for part of the filming of the show, with 15 British and Australian contenders visiting for what was back then an ITV programme – these days it's switched to the BBC.
As you can see the Gladiators were not in their outfits and so far as we know the Blists Hill visit did not feature any trials or competition, presumably instead simply creating incidental footage for the show.
