‘Swallowed Hole’ was submitted by Terry Moore, an amateur nature photographer who lives near Church Stretton.

The image also caught the eye of judges John Craven, Hamza Yassin and Edith Bowman, who named it their favourite and rewarded him with him with a special prize and a £500 gift voucher towards photographic equipment.

Terry has described himself as a “chef with a camera”, who took to spending more time outdoors taking pictures as a way to keep sane while he was furloughed during Covid.

He has held exhibitions of his work in his home town and spends his time roaming the Shropshire countryside with his camera.

Terry, who has a BSc degree in conservation, has spoken of how migratory birds such as the redstart and the pied flycatcher are arriving ever earlier in the season because of climate change.

The calendar has become an annual tradition for the BBC’s Countryfile and last year sales raised more than £2.4 million for Children in Need. The price per calendar is £10.99, UK postage included. To get your hands on a copy visit hcscalendar.co.uk
