We joined England fans at Shropshire pub for 2026 World Cup knockout game against DR Congo - as it happened
England take on the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the round of 32
Today England face off against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the first knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup - and we’re watching all the thrills and spills live alongside fans.
The Three Lions started their group strong, overcoming Croatia 4-2 on June 17, before a 0-0 draw with Ghana the following week and a few injuries caused coach Thomas Tuchel some headaches.
But in their final group game England overcame Panama 2-0 with the latest goals from Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham ensuring they topped the group, setting up today’s match against DR Congo at Atlanta Stadium.
We’ve been watching with England fans all the way, joining supporters at pubs across the West Midlands - and for today’s crucial round of 32 match we’re at The Salopian in Shrewsbury.
All of England’s group games kicked off at 9pm or later due to time differences (the tournament is taking place in the USA, Mexico and Canada) - today’s 5pm start is welcome news for pubs, who are hoping to do a roaring trade.
