Telford man, 41, ordered to pay hundreds for assaulting policeman
Magistrates impose hefty legal costs over assault in Telford

A man who assaulted a policeman has been ordered to pay compensation.
Kobby Zekyi, aged 41, assaulted the officer in Telford on May 25, 2023.
Zekyi, of Market Street, Dawley, Telford, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to assault by beating of an emergency worker.
Magistrates ordered Zekyi to pay the officer £250 in compensation and £450 in prosecution costs, bringing his total court bill to £700.
Zekyi was also made subject of a two-year conditional discharge, meaning if he reoffends within that timeframe he could be resentenced more harshly for this offence.
