Shrewsbury man, 34, denies drink driving on an electric scooter

Defendant granted bail ahead of trial at Telford Magistrates Court in the new year.

A man has pleaded not guilty to drink driving on an electric scooter.

Nathan McDonough, aged 34, is accused of riding a scooter while under the influence of alcohol in Featherbed Lane, Sundorne, Shrewsbury on September 18 this year.

It is alleged that he rode the scooter with 53 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in his system, exceeding the legal limit in England and Wales of 35mcg.

McDonough, of Woodvine Road, Sundorne, Shrewsbury, pleaded not guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with alcohol above the specified legal limit and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

Magistrates set a trial date of January 21 next year back at the same court.

They granted McDonough unconditional bail in the meantime.
