Shoplifter, 45, who stole Cherry Sourz from Wem Co-op is ordered to pay for it
Offender was also handed conditional discharge, so could be resentenced more harshly if any other crimes are committed
A shoplifter who stole a bottle of Cherry Sourz from a Co-op store has been ordered to pay for it.
Alex Smith, aged 45, lifted the bottle of alcohol worth £10 from the convenience chain’s store in Aston Street, Wem on April 30 this year.
Smith, of Aston Road, Wem, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to theft from a shop.
Magistrates ordered Smith to pay Co-op £10 in compensation.
Smith was also handed a 12-month conditional discharge, meaning they could be re-sentenced more harshly for this offence should they commit another crime in that timeframe.
No further orders for costs were made.
