Sentence date for two men who admit planning Powys cash machine burglary
Two men who admit planning to burgle a cash machine company's Powys office will be sentenced next month.
Richard Hands, 61, and Delroy York, both admit a charge of conspiring to commit a burglary, in relation to an incident at the Note Machine UK premises just outside Crickhowell last June.
The offence states that both men travelled from the Birmingham area in the early hours of June 30, 2025, and entered the company’s premises on the Elvicta Business Park as trespassers, with intent to steal.
York, 53 of no fixed abode, admitted the offence last year and also pleaded guilty to going equipped for burglary. He has been held on remand in prison since entering his pleas.
Hands, 61, of Heron Close, Alvechurch, Birmingham, had initially denied the conspiracy charge, but changed his plea to guilty ahead of his trial, Cardiff Crown Court was told on Wednesday, October 21.
Prosecuting, Sophie Keegan said: “Delroy York pleaded guilty to conspiracy and going equipped last year, and was remanded in custody.
“Richard Hands indicated just before a trial he wished to enter a guilty plea to conspiracy. It has been adjourned to set an appropriate sentencing date.”
She said a pre-sentence report has been ordered for Hands, but one is not required for York.
Mitigating for York, Myles Wilson said: “He wants to get sentenced as soon as possible; a pre-sentence report would delay that.”
His Honour Judge Eugene Egan said sentencing of both men would take place on November 18, at Cardiff, with both defendants told they must appear in person.
