Road ban for motorist, 39, who drove in Telford after taking cannabis

Magistrates also fined woman over motoring offence.

A motorist who took cannabis before driving in Telford has been banned from the road.

Amy Dumbrell, aged 39, drove a Citroen C3 on Wombridge Road, Telford on March 31 this year.

A drugs test found she had 2.4 micrograms of Delta 9 THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, per litre of blood in her system. The legal limit, accounting for the possibility of accidental exposure, is 2mcg.

Dumbrell, of Oakworth Close, Hadley, Telford, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with a controlled drug above the specified legal limit.

Magistrates banned Dumbrell from driving for 17 months and fined her £120.

Dumbrell was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £48 victim surcharge, bringing her total court bill to £253.
