Pub thieves get away with £800

A pub popular with canal boaters has been targeted by burglars who broke in and took about £800 cash from the tills.

The Jack Mytton Inn at Hindford, close to Whittington, near Oswestry, was broken into between 11.30pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday.

Pub owner Ian Spencer-Brown said: "They were in and out very quickly. They didn't take any spirits or computers. They went straight for the money."

Mr Spencer-Brown said: "A window was left partially unlatched. The latch wasn't properly closed, and it could only have been done from the inside during the evening."
