Predator jailed for sexual assaults on two women
A predator has been jailed for more than six years for sexually assaulting two women.

Christy McCleary, formerly of Wrekin View in Madeley, was on bail for attacking the first woman in 2017 when he attacked a second woman in her home in 2019, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard today (August 15).
The court was told that McCleary, who was convicted of two counts of sexual assault by penetration on the two women after a trial, had a number of previous convictions for assaulting emergency workers and had admitted to attacking police officers who attempted to arrest him following the assaults.
The 32-year-old also admitted a charge of breaching his bail conditions by committing the second sexual assault while on bail for the first.
Mr Tariq Shakoor, prosecuting, told the court that the attacks on the women took place in the middle of the night.

In jailing McCleary, Judge Anthony Lowe said: “The second time you committed the offence while on bail after the first – in fact you had just attended your plea and trial preparation hearing in February 2019.”
He jailed McCleary for six years for the two sexual offences.
But he added: “When police were lawfully apprehending you, you also behaved in a violent way towards them. You have to learn that if you do that you will go to prison.”
For that he jailed him for a further four months for four counts of assaulting emergency workers, to run consecutively to the sexual assault sentence, and another month to run concurrently for breaching his bail conditions.
“The total sentence is six years and four months,” added the judge. "As these are sexual offences, how much of that sentence you go on to serve will be up to the prison service."
West Mercia Police welcomed the sentence. Detective Sergeant Richard Cowley said: “I must start by commending the bravery and fortitude of the victims who have remained strong through what has been a long process due to the [Covid] pandemic.
“We welcome the sentence given to McCleary and I hope this court result will encourage other victims of rape or sexual assault or those who know of such crimes to come forward and report such crimes.
“We will always listen to you and act where appropriate to bring predators like McCleary before the courts with the aim of securing justice and custodial sentences as in this case.”
