No immediate punishment for Shrewsbury woman, 40, who assaulted man

Magistrates impose conditional discharge over assault by beating offence.

A woman who assaulted a man will face no immediate punishment.

Emma Kettle, aged 40, assaulted the victim in Shrewsbury on June 30 this year.

Kettle, of Boyer Close, Shrewsbury, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to assault by beating.

Magistrates handed Kettle a 12-month conditional discharge, meaning she faces no immediate punishment.

However, if she reoffends within that time frame, she could be resentenced more harshly for this crime, on top of any sentence she is given for any fresh offence.

Kettle was ordered to pay a £26 victim surcharge.
