Motorist, 40, who drove in Shrewsbury after taking cocaine gets road ban
Offender tested positive for by-product of class A drug.
A motorist who drove in Shrewsbury after taking cocaine has been handed a road ban.
Ruta Palubinskiene, aged 40, drove a BMW 3 Series on Preston Street on December 2 last year.
A drugs test found that Palubinskiene had 622 micrograms of benzoylecgonine, a by-product of cocaine, per litre of blood in their system. The legal limit, accounting for the possibility of accidental exposure, is 50mcg.
Palubinskiene, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with a proportion of a controlled drug above the specified legal limit.
Magistrates banned Palubinskiene from driving for 12 months and fined them £120.
Palubinskiene was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £48 victim surcharge, bringing their total legal costs to £253.
