Driver, 28, who drove aunt's Mercedes on M54 ordered to pay more than £900

Offender is also handed driving ban by magistrates.

A driver who only had a provisional licence has been ordered to pay more than £900 after being caught driving his aunt’s Mercedes on the M54.

Mikey Pritchard, aged 28, was pulled over by police on the motorway in the Telford area at 3.55am on September 29 this year due to officers being concerned at the manner of his driving.

Pritchard, of Crest Avenue, Netherton, Dudley, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving without a licence and without insurance.

Representing himself in court, Pritchard said: “I just took the car. I was a bit stressed out. I’ve got a lot going on at home.”

Magistrates banned Pritchard from driving for four months and fined him £600.

Pritchard was also ordered to pay a £240 victim surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs, bringing his total legal bill to £925.
