Builth Wells man who says he has cannabis prescription to stand trial for drug driving

A Builth Wells man claims he has a cannabis prescription after being charged with drug driving.

Robert Field was charged with driving a Volkwagen Golf on the A483 at Builth Wells on February 23 with Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, in his blood, namely 5.6 ug/L, which exceeded the specified limit of 2 ug/L.

The incident is alleged to have happened on February 23 2026.

The 57 year-old of Spruce Way, Caerwnon Park appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court on Tuesday, and denied the offence.

Previously Mr Owain Jones, representing Mr Field said he would like time to instruct an expert to consider the matter, as Mr Field claims he has a cannabis prescription.

At the court on Tuesday, magistrates adjourned the case for a trial on October 14 at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court.

Field remains on unconditional bail until that date.
