Ban for drink driver, 40, who was 2x the limit on town high street

Hefty fine also imposed on BMW driver for motoring offence.

A drink driver who was more than double the limit in a town’s high street has been handed a motoring ban.

Kieran Jones, aged 40, drove a BMW 3 Series in High Street, Wem on August 1 this year.

A breath test found Jones had 73 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in his system, exceeding the legal limit in England and Wales of 35mcg.

Jones, of Lowe Hill Gardens, Wem, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with alcohol above the specified legal limit.

Magistrates banned Jones from driving for 22 months and fined him £400.

Jones was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £160 victim surcharge, bringing his total court bill to £645.
