Craig Lynas, 46, was "almost certainly" under the influence of drugs when he was pulled over by police in Portley Road, Dawley, Telford.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard that officers stopped him on October 14 last year as the BMW 1 Series he was driving was showing up as uninsured on the police national computer.

A roadside test proved positive for cocaine and cannabis and Lynas was arrested, but as he was being taken back to the station, he told police he would not give a sample while in custody.

When he was interviewed, he said he did not realise he was disqualified from driving, just that he did not have a licence.
